Growing energy engineering and construction firm McDermott International poached its new second-in-command from rival TechnipFMC.
Houston-based McDermott said it hired Samik Mukherjee as its new chief operating officer and executive vice president as it continues to retool its management team after dramatically expanding earlier this year through the acquisition of The Woodlands’ CB&I.
Mukherjee joined Technip 20 years ago, working out of Paris in recent years, including after Technip’s merger with Houston’s FMC Technologies.
Mukherjee most recently served as TechnipFMC’s executive vice president overseeing corporate development, strategy mergers, acquisitions and more.
McDermott President and Chief Executive David Dickson praised Mukerjee’s experience.
“Samik possesses tremendous experience and knowledge of our industry and has a strong track record of driving operational excellence on a global scale,” Dickson said. “I am confident that he will effectively leverage our integrated, end-to-end solutions to help McDermott grow and win new business, execute our projects on time and on budget, and develop strategic, long-term relationships with our customers.”
