A partnership, comprised of service behemoths SLB, formerly Schlumberger, and Subsea 7, has secured its first deal in Trinidad and Tobago.
Oil giant BP (LON: BP) has picked the Subsea Integration Alliance to carry out the engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) of the subsea production systems and pipelines for its Cypre gas project.
It is the first time the London-listed supermajor has dished out a fully integrated contract, the value of which was described as “large”, to the coalition.
Under the terms of the BP deal, the Subsea Integration Alliance team delivered the initial front-end engineering and design phase for the project, and will now transition into the full EPCI phase.
Offshore installation is scheduled to get underway in 2024.
OneSubsea will deliver the subsea production systems, which will include seven horizontal subsea tree systems, subsea controls and connection systems, distribution and control systems and aftermarket services.
Subsea7 meanwhile will deliver the subsea pipelines for the project.
Don Sweet, director of SLB’s subsea production systems business, said: “By leveraging early engagement, digital solutions and field-proven, standard equipment, we were able to quickly define the development concept for BP’s Cypre project and place early orders for key components, derisking the project timeline.”
Comprised of Subsea 7 and SLB’s OneSubsea business, the Subsea Integration Alliance recently renewed its partnership for another seven years.
It followed a major run of wins for the pair over the last two years.
Since January 2020, they have won the majority of projects globally (by value) for subsea production systems and SURF (subsea umbilicals, risers and flowlines) deals.
Subsea integration alliance chief executive, Olivier Blaringhem said: “BP’s Cypre project is a prime example of our ability to harness the key strengths of Subsea Integration Alliance: Subsea7 with its expertise in executing complex EPCI projects and OneSubsea’s fast-track delivery of subsea production systems.
“Combined, we are delivering a refined solution that enables early first gas.”
