Petrobras has made a new discovery in the Campos Basin offshore Brazil.
The Brazilian state operator found “post salt” oil accumulations on the BM-C-35 concession.
The discovery was made while drilling well 1-BRSA-1289-RJS (ANP nomenclature) / 1-RJS-737 (Petrobras nomenclature), known as Basilisco.
The drill-bit encountered heavy oil at 3,190m and 3,520m.
The BM-C-35 concession lies is 143km from the city of Armação dos Búzios, on the Rio de Janeiro state coast, at a water depth of 2,214m.
