Eni has carried out is first shipment of LNG produced from its Jangkrik field in Indonesia.
The Italian gas firm started production at the site last month, and the first cargo of 22,500 cubic metres of gas was taken to Bali today.
Eni’s chief executive Claudio Descalzi said: “Jangkrik is a project developed with an excellent time-to-market, started-up ahead of schedule, exploiting synergies with the existing Bontang terminal and other neighbouring gas discoveries.
“These can be put into production within the existing value chain. I am very proud of my team and the relationships built on the base on these successes with Pertamina, the authorities and all the stakeholders.”
Gas produced at the site flows to the onshore receiving facility.
From there it is transported to the East Kalimantan transportation system.
The gas is sold under long-term contracts to PT PErtamina and partly to Eni itsel, which will sell it as part of the development of its international LNG portfolio.
Eni operates the Muara Bakau PSC in which it owns a 55% stake through its subsidiary Eni Muara Bakau BV.
The company has been operating in Indonesia since 2001.
