Eight people have died and 35 more were injured following a gas pipeline explosion in China’s southwest province of Guizhou on Sunday.
The blast occurred at around 10 am in the town of Shazi, and according to the preliminary investigation, was caused by a landslide after days of heavy rain.
The pipeline was operated by the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC).
The resulting fire has since been extinguished with nearby residents evacuated and all injured, including four in critical condition, being taken to hospital for treatment.
