Shelf Drilling has secured contract extensions for two jack-up rigs in the Gulf of Thailand with Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production.
In a 27 December announcement the company said its Shelf Drilling Chaophraya and Shelf Drilling Krathong jack-up rigs would continue their operations in the Gulf of Thailand.
The contract extensions are a direct continuation of the planned projects at the end of each rig’s current contract with the same client.
The contract durations are 39 months for the Shelf Drilling Chaophraya and 36 months for the Shelf Drilling Krathong, and are expected to commence in Q3 2022 and Q4 2022, respectively.
CEO David Mullen said: “We are very pleased to announce the contract extensions for the Shelf Drilling Chaophraya and Shelf Drilling Krathong with Chevron in the Gulf of Thailand. The high specification jack-up rigs were uniquely built fit for purpose for Gulf of Thailand drilling activity.
“The extension of both rigs further demonstrates our valued relationship with Chevron and our commitment to the Kingdom of Thailand.”
The contracts follow the Oslo-listed company’s securing of an eighteen-month extension of its Key Manhattan jack-up rig for drilling operations in the Adriatic Sea offshore Italy.
According to the company’s most recent fleet status report, the Key Manhattan is currently contracted to Eni.
In its 17 December update, Shelf said the expected availability of the rig was now August 2023.
