Japanese oil firm Inpex said today that production had begun at the Ichthys LNG project offshore Australia.
Inpex said shipments should be under way by the end of September.
Operator Inpex owns 62.245% of the project.
Partners include Total, CPC, Taiwan, Tokyo Gas, Osaka Gas, Kansai Electric Power, Jera and Toho Gas.
The project is expected to produce 8.9 million tons of LNG and 1.65 million tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) per year, along with 100,000 barrels of condensate per day at peak.
