Quality assurance giant Intertek will research the impact on sandbanks of rock dumping during oil and gas decommissioning.
Intertek, a FTSE 100 company with bases in Aberdeen, was appointed by the UK’s Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC) to undertake the study.
The research will focus on the North Norfolk and Saturn Reef areas of the southern North Sea, which include a series of 10 main sandbanks.
The study will compare sediment profiles and characteristics associated with oil and gas rock dumping operations.
