EnQuest said today that work to halt production from the Dons fields in the UK North Sea had begun.
The London-listed firm said on Facebook that the process started on Monday and was expected to last several days.
The Dons fields are tied back to the Northern Producer floating production storage and offloading vessel (FPSO), which should come off-station next month.
EnQuest said in June 2020 that the Dons fields had reached their “economic limit”.
Dons were the first fields to be owned by EnQuest following its formation in 2010 from the demerged UK North Sea assets of Petrofac and Lundin.
Producing fields include Don Southwest, Conrie, West Don and Ythan
Don Southwest was discovered in 1976 and yielded first production as part of the original Don development in 1993 with operator BP.
