Sound Energy has achieved first commercial production at the operated onshore Nervesa gas discovery in Italy.
The company, which has a gas sales agreement with Shell, said it will confirm production rates at a later date once the initial clean-up phase is completed and a stable flow rate has been assessed.
The Nervesa discovery was drilled in 2013.
Sound said it is approaching its first well at the Tendrara licence in Morocco.
Chief executive James Parsons, said: “First gas at Nervesa is a landmark event for the Company, providing energy to a robust domestic market and further underpining our broader Mediteranean expansion.”
