Almaco Group has been awarded a contract from Statoil to build 450 modular cabins for the Johan Sverdrup fixed platform.
The win comes on the same day Statoil said it planned to build an additional platform in phase 2 of the mammoth project.
Almaco’s scope of work for the project includes the supply of 450 cabins which will be incorporated into the living quarter which is being built at Apply Lerivik’s yard.
The cabins will be built at the company’s facilities in Finland and be delivered in separate batches to Apply Emtunga in Sweden, to Apply Leirvik in Stord, Norway and to Kvaerner also in Stord, Norway.
The cabins are expected to be delivered before February 2018.
Mikael Liljeström, Almaco’s offshore division president, said:“ALMACO is well suited for this project as it has extensive expertise in delivering high-quality modular cabins in the marine and offshore industries, surpassing 25,000 cabins built and modernized since the company’s inception.”
