Staff working for offshore ship owner Olympic in Norway have agreed to a 6% pay cut in a bid to save workers’ jobs.
The company said more than 60% of staff agreed to the reduction in salaries as part of the voluntary scheme.
Chief executive Stig Remoy said management will also take a pay cut.
The agreement has been agreed by central unions in a deal struck between the Norwegian Sjooffisersforbund (NSOF) Norwegian Seafarers’ Union (NSF) and the Norwegian Machinist Association (DNMF).
The reductions in salaries have been applied from today.
The announcement comes as Transocean revealed it would be making up to 230 job losses in Norway.
