Engi said it will reduce its headcount in Norway in a first time move for the company in the region.
The company, formerly known as GDF Suez, has offered 10 employees early retirement while a further 11 employees are also expected to go.
According to reports in Norwegian media, the move by the firm is the first of its kind in its 15-year history on the Norwegian shelf.
A spokesman said the decision had been “very difficult” as “good and competent” employees would be losing their jobs.
Employees are expected to be offered severance packages which if not accepted, will result in meetings between the staff and the company to negotiate a deal.
The packages to be offered include a minimum of six months salary and a maximum of 12 months depending on how long they have worked for the company.
Engi currently has 284 employees in Norway.
