Aberdeen-based international drilling and engineering contractor KCA Deutag said yesterday it had retained a Statoil contract worth up to £168million.
The extension, starting from October 1, 2016, and running until October 2018, covers seven of Statoil’s platforms on the Norwegian continental shelf.
It will see KCA Deutag deliver drilling operations, maintenance services and engineering support for the Gullfaks and Oseberg fields.
The deal comes with an option to extend the relationship for two further periods of two years each.
KCA Deutag also operates the Kvitebjorn platform for Statoil under a separate contract and in 2013 the group was awarded the management, operation and maintenance of two category J jack-up rigs which will also begin operating on the Norwegian continental shelf next year.
