Aker has won two contracts in quick succession to secure 120 jobs.
The first deal with Statoil includes the service contractor providing the preliminary engineering work to enable a tie-in of the Utgard gas and condensate field to the Sleipner facilities in the North Sea.
The second is a sub-contractor win with Kraerner for an upgrade on Statoil’s Njord A oilfield. At its peak, the deal will involve 120 Aker employees.
Aker Solutions’ initial delivery will be front end engineering design (FEED) work. The contract with Kværner also includes engineering work in the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) phase of the project shouldthe operator decide to proceed with this, as well as an option for prefabrication work.
“We look forward to working with Kværner to find the most robust and cost-effective solutions for Statoil on this project, which draws on our experience in complex modifications,” said Per Harald Kongelf, head of Aker Solutions’ Norwegian operations.
Knut Sandvik, head of Aker Solutions’ MMO operations, which will be responsible for the Utgard work, said the win reflected the fact Aker was getting its prices right.
He said: “We are continually working on delivering the most cost-effective and efficient solutions for our customers. This award confirms that we are on the right track.”
