Aberdeenshire engineering firm Power Jacks yesterday revealed that it had set up a sales office on the European mainland.
Power Jacks said the base in Wangen im Allgäu, southern Germany, would help the company boost its trade throughout the continent.
The Ellon-headquartered firm, which produces industrial lifting and positioning equipment for a range of industries, including energy, currently has a network of 15 distributors and agents in Europe.
Power Jacks also has a representative office in Shanghai, China, to support its Asian operations.
Bruce Bultitude, Power Jack’s executive chairman, said the office in Germany showed the firm was determined to realise its potential in European.
He said: “Power Jacks has a long history of designing, manufacturing and delivering high quality products, and we see this as a prime opportunity to build on that and create sustainable business growth in a key market.”
The company has appointed Kai Liesendahl to lead the new unit, assuming the title of sales and business development director for Europe.
He has worked in a number of senior sales, marketing, export and customer services roles in recent years
Mr Bultitude said: “Kai is very experienced in the industrial automation sector and we’re pleased to welcome him to the Power Jacks team. With his in-depth knowledge and experience of linear motion he is ideally equipped to take on this pivotal role.
“We are confident he will prove successful in building upon Power Jacks’ status as a proven provider of high performance products and reliable services to customers in a diverse range of industries.”
The announcement follows last week’s news that Power Jacks has been selected to make and supply parts for a retractable roof that will be installed on Wimbledon’s No. 1 Court in time for the 2019 tennis championship.
Power Jacks previously provided components for the roof that was installed on Wimbledon’s Centre Court in 2009.
The company employs about 65 people at its base in Ellon.
