An improvement notice has been issued to Teekay for its Petrojarl FPSO (floating, production, storage and offloading) vessel being used on the Foinaven oilfield.
The company has been given until June to make changes after an extraction of crude petroleum.
The FPSO is currently in use on the oil field which is 120miles West of Shetland.
A spokeswoman for the company said a number of discrepancies were found by the HSE (Health and Safety Executive) during a routine inspection in December.
She said: “During a routine regulatory inspection of the vessel by the Health and Safety Executive, it was discovered that there were some discrepancies with regards periodic reviews of the
Teekay Petrojarl Foinaven Written Scheme of Examination (WSE) which are required under section 8.1 of the WSE.
“We take such matters very seriously and part of the requirement of the improvement notice is that we review and remedy this non-compliance to the regulation.
“In response to this we are currently undertaking a robust review of our entire WSE. We are working through our procedures and processes and will comply with requirements in the improvement notice within the time frame required.”
