Ineos has been given an improvement notice after being accused of failing to take “all measures necessary” to prevent major accidents at its site at Grangemouth.
The petrochemical company, which received its first shipment of US shale to the facility in October last year, has till April to comply with the notice.
It was issued by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).
The notice to the company said it had failed to take all measures to “prevent major accidents and to limit their consequences for human health and the environment as the company have not
ensured moveable electrical equipment provided for use in hazardous areas on the refinery tank farm has been inspected and maintained so as to control the risk of ignition of flammable atmospheres.”
Ineos has been approached for a comment.
