An investigation has been launched after a rig worker got his foot trapped under a container during an offshore lifting operation.
The accident happened on Pro Safe’s Safe Scandinavia support vessel last week.
The man got his limb trapped underneath a heavy load as it was lowered onto the deck during a cargo lifting operation on Thursday evening.
ProSafe said the employee, who has not been named, was given first aid by the on board medic before being transported to Haukeland hospital in Bergen for further treatment.
The Petroleum Safety Authority, Norway’s governmental safety agency, has been informed of the incident.
The Safe Scandanavia is currently supporting operations at Oseberg East platform on the Norwegian Continental Shelf for Statoil.
A ProSafe spokesman said: “Safety is a core value in Prosafe, and we work actively to ensure that we operate in a safe manner and that we avoid injuries and accidents.
“This incident is a reminder that we need to be constantly alert and consider the risks involved in everything we do.
“We will conduct a thorough investigation in order to identify causes and if necessary introduce risk-reducing measures aimed at preventing recurrence.
“The findings of the investigation will be conveyed to the rest of the organisation to ensure transfer of experience.”
The spokesman added: “One of our managers visited the injured employee on Friday, and we will follow him up closely. We wish him a speedy recovery.”
