ENQUEST has helped set an apparently new safety milestone for the province by recording four years free of lost time incidents (LTI’s) in the Thistle field.
This achievement covers the period from a major rebuild of the Thistle platform’s drilling package, through start-up of the rejuvenated package and the first 18 months of rig operations. In other words, significant refurbishment work was being carried out for more than half that period.
Involved in setting the new record were not only EnQuest’s team but the KCA Deutag drill crew, Aker Qserv well services crew, and a range of other offshore contractors.
Their work included integrity-driven partial abandonments, workovers, sidetracks, and the installation of the first electrical submersible pump (ESP) on Thistle.
During a recent team building workshop and dinner, EnQuest presented a commemorative plaque to Ali Young, rig manager and Jim Stirling, rig superintendent of KCA Deutag.
