THE crew of a North Sea offshore-supply vessel were treated to a sit-down lunch on the deck of their ship to mark a safety record milestone yesterday.
Norway-based Deep Sea Supply’s Sea Trout was being rewarded for three years of service to Aberdeen-based EnQuest without a lost-time injury. During a crew change at Aberdeen harbour, EnQuest operations functional manager Tim Bradbury presented the crew with a plaque and gifts before they all sat down to a lunch where equipment and supplies are usually stocked.
The vessel was built in 2008 and since then has been working for EnQuest on its Don field, 290 miles north of Scotland, serving the floating production vessel North Petroleum and the floating rig Transocean John Shaw. In that time the vessel, which usually has a crew of 14 working four weeks’ on and four weeks’ off, has delivered 26,000 tonnes of cargo and 32,000 tonnes of water and diesel and carried out more than 12,000 deck lifts.
Mr Bradbury said: “Three years without a lost-time injury on a supply vessel is quite remarkable. The Sea Trout has a tremendous reputation for excellent working and there is confidence in the vessel and crew in a sector of the North Sea where weather is a big player.”
