Trade body Oil and Gas UK and Step Change in Safety have announced the finalists for next month’s UK Oil and Gas Industry Safety Awards.
Finalists have been announced in six categories, while a seventh winner, for services to safety, will be chosen by the joint chairmen of Step Change: Martin Ellins, of KCA Deutag, and Ken Robertson, of Shell.
All the winners will be announced during a ceremony in the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre on Wednesday, April 18.
Finalists

Safety representative of the year: Aaron Richardson, work preparator, Armada platform, BG Group; Robert Scott, scaffolder, East Brae platform, Marathon Oil; Peter Simm, plant operator, Alba Northern platform, Chevron Upstream Europe.
Preventative Safety Action: Keith Clayton, rigger, Wood Group PSN; Nicholas McBride, HSE technician, Rowan Drilling UK; Dave Connor, deck foreman, Kittiwake platform, Petrofac Offshore Projects and Operations.
Most promising individual: Darpan Amin, engineering graduate, Centrica Storage; Duncan Innes, HSSE graduate, Amec; Mick Quinn, production supervisor, Total E&P UK
Innovation in safety: BP; ConocoPhillips UK; Total E&P UK.
Ideas in safety: Ewan McPherson, Archer UK; Derek Stirling and Jim Hendry, Maersk Oil UK; Stork Technical Services’ onsite machining and bolting team.
