Ultrasonic-inspection business Sonomatic said yesterday it had expanded its Aberdeen operations after a £100,000 investment.
The firm, which specialises in subsea non-destructive testing (NDT), said it had added extra floor space to its operations at the Aberdeen Science and Energy Park after taking on three new employees and announcing plans to recruit a further five before the end of the year. Sonomatic, which now employs 18 people, previously had nearly 4,000sq ft but said yesterday it had increased that by 40%.
The firm, which turned over more than £14.7million last year, said the new office space would accommodate growth in both its inspection and integrity operations. Sonomatic said it had also signed a record number of contracts this year.
Graham Marshall, who recently joined the business as subsea project manager, said: “2012 is an exciting year of expansion at Sonomatic, as we continue to develop new and more effective ways of completing NDT for the subsea market.”
He said Sonomatic’s Mag Rover scanner technology was scheduled to be used on several projects in the coming months.
