Aberdeen-based standby vessel operator Atlantic Offshore Rescue said yesterday it had commissioned what would be the UK’s most powerful emergency-response and rescue vessel (ERRV).
The Ocean Troll has had a £2million conversion and overhaul to become a UK Class A ERRV with tanker-assist and firefighting capabilities. Its home port will be Aberdeen.
The vessel transferred from Atlantic’s Norwegian operation and is part of a £300million fleet investment programme.
Orders have been placed by Atlantic for two high-specification tanker-assist vessels/ERRVs, with one due to join the fleet in January 2014 and the other scheduled for completion in 2015.
Atlantic was previously Sartor Offshore Rescue and has been in operation since 1995. It manages a fleet of 13 ERRVs and four platform supply vessels out of Aberdeen.
