Offshore survival specialist Survivex opened its £1.5million fire training centre with an event for clients yesterday.
The Aberdeen-based firm said customers had already started booking the fire safety rig, which will be used in a range of offshore and marine firefighting courses. It added that the facility could accommodate up to 16 offshore workers on a course at a time.
Business-development manager Jenny Davidson said: “Interest has already been good, with some major clients booking into courses for the weeks ahead. There has been a huge amount of development in the facility; we said from the beginning we would be offering emergency-response training and we are pleased to now add that to our services.
“We are also in the process of applying for certification to provide emergency-response helideck training so, hopefully, that will be the next step.”
Survivex funded the investment in its Dyce premises after agreeing a £3.2million loan with Bank of Scotland.
The funding has also been used to open a new office in Dubai, with another base in Singapore to come.
Founded in 2011 by father-and-son team George and Andrew Green, Survivex now employs 82 people and turned over £3.8million in its first year in business.
