ABB is to upgrade safety and automation systems on Statoil’s Heimdal platform after agreeing a new £18million contract with the Norwegian oil giant.
The Swiss-based company will provide a new human-machine interface for control system, modifications to the control room, simulator, fire and gas detectors and communications.
“We are upgrading parts of the safety and automation system on Heimdal to contribute to profitable and safe operation of the platform,” said Per Erik Holsten, Manager of ABB’s Process Automation division in Norway.
“ABB’s maintenance and modification service solutions extend the life span of installations that have been in operations for a significant amount of time.”
