The United Arab Emirates’ Minister of Energy to open the Opito Safety and Competency Conference 2013 later this year.
The event in Abu Dhabi will gather more than 300 delegates from around the world to look at ways of improving safety standards in the global oil and gas sector.
Minister Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei will be joined by key speakers Leo Koot, managing director of TAQA Bratani and Richard Cregan, chief executive officer of Abu Dhabi Motorsports Management.
“The safety of people working in the energy industry is of paramount importance to us and we are ready to do all we can to promote dialogue on this important issue,” the minister said.
The November 19 conference will also feature an interactive panel session including speakers for McDermott Middle East, Petrofac Training Services, International Transport Workers Federation and Lukoil.
“The focus of this year’s conference is firmly on competence and will provide the audience with a detailed insight into how to build an effective competence and safety management system that is flexible in nature so it works for the business, the environment and, most importantly, helps people go to work and come home safely,” said David Doig, OPITO group chief executive.
