Oil services firm Baker Hughes said its force majeure remains in place in Iraq after the religious violence in the country last week.
The company declared force majeure following protests when an Egyptian oil worker with the company took down flags commemorating the death of Imam Hussein at a facility in Rumaila.
Nobody was injured in the incident, but the company said at the time it suffered ‘significant disruption’ to its operations.
More than a week on, and following a similar incident involving a G4S employee at Schlumberger’s camp near the oil field, the company said the situation remained ‘fluid’
A spokeswoman for the firm said there had been no update to the status since force majeure was declared last week.
“Our focus remains on the safety and wellbeing of our employees,” she said.
