Aberdeen based marine evacuation firm Survival Craft Inspectorate is to expand its operations into Holland.
The company, which employs 170 staff with bases in the US, Canada, Australia, Norway and Qatar, has appointed maritime veteran Jos Lems to oversee its new Rotterdam operation.
The new office, which will mark the company’s 12th around the world, is targeting £1million turnover by the end of its first year.
“We’re looking to better integrate our operations ensuring greater awareness of our capabilities, products, services and geographic reach in the global market,” said Lems, who will also serve as head of global sales for the firm.
“We’re extremely strong in the offshore industry, but there is huge scope to grow the business in the broader shipping market. We are very much focussed on what we have to do to take this highly successful business to the next level.
The company said it would not rule out acquisitions or link-ups with similar firms oversees as it continues its expansion plans.
The expansion, which will create 10 new engineering jobs in Holland, comes after SCI took over the former Maritime Rescue Institute headquarters in Stonehaven to operate training courses from.
“In Jos we have added an expert in building businesses globally,” said SCi chief executive Derek Sinclair.
“Jos and I have worked together in the past and he is valuable addition to the SCI team.”
