Massive flames have lit up the Missouri skyline after a 30-inch gas pipeline exploded this morning.
Nobody was hurt in the blast, which took place near the small town of Hughesille – although several nearby buildings caught fire as a result.
Investigations have now begun into the blaze, which forced local sheriffs to evacuate homes within a five-mile radius of the pipeline.
The Panhandle Eastern-operated pipeline supplies power plants and industrial firms in the American midwest, carrying 2.8billion cubic feet of gas per day.
