The impact of human factors – the way people’s behaviour at work can affect health and safety – is still a grey area across HSE management in the energy industry, an expert has warned.
Dean Wiseman, director at Wise Man Human Factors told Energy Voice that concept remained a difficult one for many companies to understand.
“It’s looking at behaviours and processes but it’s also looking at the limitations of humans… how errors can happen, why they happen, what we can do to prevent them,” Wiseman said.
“I don’t think the application of human factors management is the difficulty – it seems to be understanding and articulating questions that’s the challenge at the moment.”
