Keeping the workforce and their families “informed and comfortable” on the latest updates regarding helicopter travel, is key to Step Change in Safety’s work, said the body’s co-chair.
“There’s always communication to be had, and on something that is a big part of the industry – when people are getting on and off helicopters every day and in very diverse areas,” Steve Bullock told Energy Voice.
“The role of Step Change is not to come up with conclusions – primarily it’s a means of communication, understanding what’s occurring with different accident investigation boards, where the authorities are coming from.
“We have a very much workforce focus and it’s about the people who get on and off the helicopters and their families and making sure they’re informed and comfortable and that we have the right dialog with the different parties.”
Step Change is the best platform to communicate safety messages to the workforce due to its role as a “glue” between different safety bodies in the industry, Bullock added.
