Investigations are under way after an oil worker died at the oilsands site in Canada.
A Suncor worker, thought to be a man in his 40s, was found dead after leaving to check pipelines at the company’s facility in Alberta yesterday.
His body was found at a sand dump after a search by police and emergency services of the site, near Fort McMurray.
Suncor said it would conduct a full investigation into the incident.
“We extend our sincere condolences to the family, friends and co-workers,” said the company’s upstream vice president Mark Little.
“They are certainly in our thoughts and prayers during this extremely difficult time.”
