Energy sector breathing equipment specialist Air2Work has appointed a new chief executive amid plans to invest £1million in its UK operations.
The firm, which has offices in Aberdeen and Norway, is investing more than £1million to expand its UK continental shelf fleet of equipment for workers operating in hazardous environments both on and offshore.
Kevin O’Connor has taken on the role of chief executive, replacing Alan Brodie who moves into a non-executive director position.
The firm plans to hire an additional two members of staff to support its technical and sales teams in Aberdeen, and double its rental fleet of breathing air systems to 30 units.
“Major renovation programmes, as part of shutdown and turnaround operations, involve exposing energy sector workers to hazardous conditions and our equipment provides them with guaranteed safe breathing air,” said Mr O’Connor.
“We are seeing rising demand from asset maintenance contractors, with projects such as blasting and painting, tank cleaning and non-destructive testing campaigns.”
Mr O’Connor is a former engineer and commissioned education officer in the RAF, with experience working for a range of energy companies including Baker Hughes, Halliburton and Cameron.
Air2Work was established in 2010 by Norwegian firm E Innovation. It entered the UK market in 2012 following the opening of its Aberdeen office at the Wellheads Industrial Estate.
