A new industry engagement team has been launched to support the offshore workforce.
Industry safety group Step Change in Safety and the Health and Safety Executive have teamed up to form a new steering group, called the Workforce Engagement Support Team, to reflect better practice in the industry.
Step Change leader Les Linklater said: “WEST is an amalgamation of Step Change’s Workforce Engagement Group and the HSE’s Workforce Invovlement Group.
“We realised we had these two very similar groups aiming for the same goal, but working independently from each other. Part of safety is simplification and that’s exactly what we did.”
He said the goal of the two groups remained the same.
“We want to actively and routinely engage with the onshore and offshore workforce as we strive to become the safest oil province in the world,” added Mr Linklater.
