This year’s annual Opito Safety and Competence Conference will focus on the influence of leadership and management on safety behaviours in the energy industry.
More than 400 delegates and 25 exhibitors, including industry leaders, government bodies and regulators are expected to attend the November 4 in Abu Dhabi.
The event, which marks its fifth anniversary this year, will look at how industry leaders can implement long-term high value change and ultimately a safer workforce.
“As the industry moves into even more challenging environments and emerging oil and gas provinces in order to exploit hydrocarbons, the challenges of local content, skills shortages and a fragmented approach to training and standards impact on our ability to ensure a safe and competent workforce,” said David Doig, group chief executive at Opito.
“The OSCC is the only global event focused on debating the issues around safety and competency in our industry in the way it relates to people.
“This platform provides a unique opportunity to hear from safety leaders from other industries, learn about new thinking, find out more about global standards and new training practices and network with industry decision-makers who are committed to making the oil and gas sector safer for every employee, anywhere in the world.”
Last year’s event, which attracted over 350 delegates from 25 countries was opened by the Minister of Energy for the United Arab Emirates, Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei.
