North Star Shipping has had its strong safety record recognised by one of the world’s leading health-and-safety bodies – for a 14th consecutive year.
The division of family-owned global shipping and energy-services firm Craig Group, of Aberdeen, gained its latest International Safety Award, with a distinction, from the British Safety Council (BSC).
It is the first time North Star has secured a distinction, which required full marks across award criteria recognising organisations for comprehensive health-and-safety policies, targeted plans and a clear commitment to health and safety.
North Star’s 36-strong vessel fleet boasts an average of 2,372 days incident-free, which means that on average each boat operating in a high-risk environment has gone six-and-half years without any incident, accident or injury.
Eddie Perkins, the firm’s quality, health, safety and environmental (QHSE) manager, said: “We are absolutely thrilled that both the work carried out by our QHSE team and by every one of our crew members aboard each of our vessels has been recognised.”
