A Scots marine transfer firm has won the backing of the Brazilian Navy for its new offshore safety system.
The Aberdeen-based company Reflex Marine has become the first EU company to receive a Brazilian technology certificate for offshore safety for its Frog 6 device.
The crane transfer solution for offshore workers was tested for immersion, load, vertical and lateral impact in December last year when a delegation of Brazilian Navy coastguards visited Aberdeen.
“In recent years we have been working with a number of operators in Brazil to identify improvements that could be made in safety during crew transfer operations,” said Carol Richards, Reflex Marine’s regional sales manager for South America.
“Gaining this accreditation is a significant milestone in our relationship with Brazil’s burgeoning energy sector.”
The country’s state oil giant Petrobras is currently reviewing the product, the company added.
