Shell confirmed a fire at one of its refinery had successfully been brought under control.
A fire was reported at its 404,000 barrel-per-day Pernis refinery in the Netherlands.
Staff were able to quickly extinguish the flames.
A spokesman for the Rotterdam refinery said the incident was “minor” and declined to comment on whether production would be affected.
