The offshore workforce gathered to discuss the latest on helicopter safety, including the implications of the CAA’s most recent report.
Size and shape, breathing apparatus and effective communication all came under the discussion spotlight.
Step Change in Safety leader Les Linklater hailed the event a success but said more work needs to be done to communicate the messages to a wider workforce.
“When we’re talking about communication and trust and engagement there’s 250 people here – there’s 16,000 offshore,” he said.
“So we have to get that message out to them: that these things are being worked on, they are being managed effectively and to the best outcome.
“That’s the challenge, that’s the difficulty.”
