The industry paused to remember one of its fallen safety heroes- Steve Walton.
At the UK Oil & Gas Industry Safety Awards, Step Change in Safety team leader Les Linklater presented the Services to Safety Award posthumously to Steve, who worked with Wood Group for more than 20 years as a materials controller and safety representative.
His widow Marie accepted the award on his behalf.
Steve’s safety legacy is one that has affected and in many ways protected his offshore colleagues, according to fellow safety leaders.
Tributes were paid to the ‘industry shining light’ and the tireless work he did to strengthen the industry’s resolve for safety.
