Aberdeen safety consultancy Optimus Seventh Generation has been acquired by Dekra Insight.
The Stuttgart-based company confirmed it planned to keep Optimus’s 65 employees and to retain its office at Arnhall Business Park in Westhill.
The safety behaviour training specialist will join Dekra’s “Insight” division, which employs over 550.
The deal marks an exit for brothers Steve and David Marples who founded O7G in 2003. Other shareholders include chief executive Derek Smith, director Eddie McCullough and finance director Keith Scott. The move comes just days after a trio of businessmen sold their firm, Wireline Engineering, to Dallas-based Impact Selector Inc.
Optimus provides behavior-based safety, on-site coaching and training, risk diagnosis and occupational health and safety training.
Dekra chief executive Colin Duncan said:“Together with our legacy businesses, Optimus Seventh Generation enhances our presence in the region and creates the ability to provide services across a broader range of safety needs in high-risk industries. The result will be greater growth for our business and more opportunities for all of our employees.”
Optimus chief executive Derek Smith says the acquisition advances the firm’s mission to make a difference in the world of work.
He added: “DEKRA Insight’s dedication to safety excellence, along with its technical and operational capabilities, offers our clients more solutions for their safety improvement challenges.
