Swire Oilfield Services has been awarded a Procel Edifica certificate for its environmentally friendly base in Brazil.
The 60,000m2 base in Macae was opened in June 2015 and was designed in line with the company’s sustainable development programme.
The Brazilian government created Procel certification to encourage the conservation and efficient use of natural resources such as water, electricity and ventilation in buildings in order to reduce waste and impact on the environment.
Swire introduced a waste management warehouse, water reservoir, 50m2 of solar panels for water hearting, water treatment station, sewage treatment station and parking for electric vehicles and bicycles as part of the build.
Swire’s general manager in Brazil, Marcelo Nacif, said: “We are delighted to have been recognised for our commitment to sustainable development. We invested heavily throughout the design and construction phase of the Bellavista base, working closely with suppliers to ensure we minimise the impact of our activities on the environment.”
Swire Oilfield Services entered the Brazilian market in 2011 and has since grown to be one of the largest providers of DNV 2.7-1 cargo carrying solutions in the region.
