Weatherford has moved into a second consultation period over jobs from its UK operations.
Earlier this month, the company said it planned to lay off an additional 6,000 workers, about 15% of its workforce, over the first half of this year to cope with the worst crude market downturn in 30 years.
The move is expected to affect roles in both Aberdeen and Great Yarmouth.
A spokeswoman said:”As we continue to navigate through the current economic environment, we remain steadfast in our commitment to generate free cash flow and structurally lower our cost base while maintaining service quality and our record-level safety metrics.
“The decision to further reduce our workforce, while difficult, is a prudent measure given the steep industry downturn. The discipline shown during these challenging times will pay dividends in the quarters ahead as well as in the inevitable market recovery.”
In October last year Weatherford launched a consultation with staff in its UK operations for up to 75 positions.
