Industry body Decom North Sea (DNS) has appointed a new vice-chair to its board of directors.
Nigel Lees, decommissioning director for Wood Group, has over 25 years’ oil and gas knowledge to the role, including decommissioning and asset modification projects within both the oil and gas and nuclear industries.
His appointment follows roles as DNS board director and chair of its Governance and Administration committee, where he has utilised his business management expertise and knowledge of the decommissioning market to play a pivotal role within the industry body.
Lees said: “I strongly believe that Decom North Sea has an essential part to play in representing not only its members, but also working in cooperation with Oil & Gas UK and the Oil and Gas Authority to ensure this emerging sector develops into a respected and sustainable decommissioning industry that addresses the needs of all stakeholders.
“It is essential that DNS’ collaborative efforts are both clearly described and understood and I look forward to maintaining my commitment to this process.”
Karen Seath, Decom North Sea’s interim chief executive said: “Nigel has been a tireless supporter of Decom North Sea and all that it stands for, since joining the organisation in 2010.
“His work thus far clearly illustrates his desire to ensure that DNS leads the way in this emerging sector and I value his continued strategic support.
“On behalf of Decom North Sea, I would also like to thank Alex West, who retires from the post of vice-chair, after five years of highly appreciated service.”
