Statoil has been hit with an improvement notice on its Gullfaks A platform in the North Sea after a numbe rof non-conformities were found.
The Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) said the audit had been made as part of its “late life” prioritisation which aims to help facilities and installations on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS) to maintain an develop high levels of safety.
It was found there were concerns related to health risks from chemicals, risk of noise-induced hearing damage and well as fears over exhaust exposure in the drilling area.
The company has been given a deadline of May 20th to report on how it will deal with the non-conformities.
The purpose of the audit had been to evaluate whether Statoil’s management for qualifying Gallfaks A for continued operation up to 2036 meets the OHAS regulations and whether the facility is designed so as to ensure workers are not exposed to working environment factors that exceed the levels specified in the regulations and referenced standards.
