Statoil has officially moved into its new Aberdeen headquarters.
Tove Stuhr Sjøblom, managing director for Statoil UK, said the relocation emphasized the Norwegian operator’s “long-term” commitment to the area.
“We are delighted to take up residence in these modern and practical facilities, built to serve our needs for the long term as an operator on the UK Continental Shelf,” she said.
“With state of the art technology and an open layout designed for collaboration, this office will help us deliver safe and efficient operations and underpin our goal of being a great place to perform and develop for all employees.”
The Kingswells base, located in the Prime Four Business Park, can accommodate up to 200 staff members.
Statoil made its Aberdeen entrance in 2013 following a investment decision on both its Mariner and Bressay developments. However, the Bressay development has since been sidelined until a more attractive cost argument can be made for the scheme.
Mariner is expected to support 700 onshore and offshore jobs in the coming years. The project, which is expected to have a 30-year lifespan, will produce more than 250 mmbbls reserves with average plateau production of around 55,000 barrels per day.
The oil major is also developing world’s first floating windfarm offshore Peterhead. The Hywind project is expected to deliver first power to the grid in late 2017. Earlier this week, the firm was cleared to begin construction on the project.
