Shipping specialist GC Rieber has won a cable lay charter from James Fisher Marine Services for subsea construction support vessel Polar Onyx in the UK North Sea.
The charter will being shortly with options expected to extend the hire to more than a month.
The charter comes in almost direct continuation from the Nigerian campaign the vessel performed in the first two quarters of 2016. The ship had previously been on long-term hire with the now defunct Ceona where it had been carrying out deep-water operations with Petrobras in Brazil.
“We’re pleased to see continued utilisation for Polar Onyx in today’s market and look forward to working with James Fisher for this opportunity,” commented Irene Basili, CEO of GC Rebver Shipping.
