GE Oil & Gas has secured a major deal with Statoil to supply surface wellhead and christmas tree equipment for the landmark John Sverdrup in the North Sea.
Under the new multi-year agreement – no value has been disclosed – GE will manufacture, deliver and install its standardized surface wellhead and christmas tree systems at multiple wells that make up part of the field.
The GE christmas tree system incorporates a valve that increases the longevity of maintenance intervals, resulting in reduced downtime for the operator.
Statoil and GE Oil & Gas have collaborated on previous technology projects. GE believes this latest deal opens opportunities for Statoil to use its digital solutions to drive higher productivity and create “smarter” wells.
GE Oil and Gas European president Michele Stangarone, said: “The Johan Sverdrup field is one of the largest and most important fields in the world today and this deal will bring GE Oil & Gas’ leading equipment to the project to help ensure optimised and productive efficiency.”
First discovered in 2011, the Johan Sverdrup field is one of the largest oil fields in the North Sea.
