Some of Aberdeen’s best known business leaders have joined the judging panel for the Press and Journal’s Gold Awards.
They will pick the winning entries in the run-up to the glittering awards ceremony in September.
The Press and Journal launched the Gold Awards last year to celebrate 50 years of oil and gas in the North Sea.
This year’s event recognises the companies and individuals forging a bright future for the sector.
Judge Rita Marcella, dean of Aberdeen Business School at Robert Gordon University (RGU), said it was important to celebrate business creativity.
She will be joined by Malcolm Webb, former head of Oil and Gas UK, Alan Dick, vice president at Simmons & Co, and a director from title sponsor Aberdeen Asset Management.
Press and Journal energy editor Jeremy Cresswell, and Rita Brown, editor of the newspaper’s sister website Energy Voice, are also on the panel.
Eight prizes will be presented at the 2016 ceremony.
The categories are: Large company of the year; small company of the year; best employer; innovation award; emerging industry leader; new energy award; hall of fame and entrepreneurial awards.
Hopefuls can apply by visiting www.pandjgoldawards.com. The closing date for entries is June 24.
Prof Marcella said: “I’m delighted to be involved in judging these awards which acknowledge both the achievements of the past but also the importance of creativity, innovation and investment for the next 50 years and more.”
Mr Webb said: “The UK oil and gas industry is going through a tough period right now and I think it is particularly important that we continue to encourage excellence at times like these. I therefore commend the Press and Journal for continuing its good work.”
Mr Dick said: “The awards play an important role in recognising the strengths of the supply chain in and around Aberdeen, which will be the industry’s main driver of innovation, technology development and collaborating.”
The ceremony and dinner will take place on September 8 at The Marcliffe Hotel.
